How do I copy music from my iPod Touch to my Mac using Xpod?

I just downloaded the freeware program Xpod, and it says that my iPod isn't connected to my Mac laptop. Now obviously my iPod is hooked-up to my Mac, yet it's saying that it isn't. Does anyone know what I need to do in order for this thing to work? I've been trying to get my music on my Mac for awhile (I've tried a lot of converter programs and so far nothing's worked).
