Tetra Aquarium?

I've got one of those 10 gallons... It's really not for goldfish, goldfish need a bigger tank. You should let it cycle for 2 weeks. All tanks should be cycled. Most people don't care and just add fish right away anyways. But you can cycle your tank with fish in it... Just make sure they are hardy fish. Your lid with the lights, it has those tabs you mentioned, yes, you snap them off...The big one is for the filter, and the smaller one is incase you've got larger tubing for an air pump. Your lid should fit on though
